May 21, 2007 (Fairfax, Virginia) | Fairfax, Virginia-based computer forensics and technology services company Sensei Enterprises is launching a series of June 2007 seminars aimed at informing the legal community and the public at large about timely topics dealing with cyber crime, including cyber stalking, cyber harassment, cyber bullying and the use of spyware.
Sensei’s President, attorney Sharon D. Nelson, notes, “It is a tribute to how pervasive these issues are that I have been interviewed by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR and even Oprah’s ‘O’ magazine. Online spying and cyber stalking are on the minds of many individuals—not just the attorneys who represent them. Few attorneys know the laws pertaining to these subjects—and many individuals who are victims have no idea where to turn or what to do. This is exactly why we decided to do a series of presentations on cyber crime—to get the necessary information into the hands of attorneys and individuals.”
Michael Maschke, Director of Computer Forensics for Sensei, speaks personally with many callers requesting computer forensics assistance. “We hear from people who want to install spyware on their spouse’s computer, wives whose husbands use software to monitor all their online activities, former lovers who are being stalked, and parents whose children are being mercilessly cyber-bullied. These are often very emotional calls from people who need a place to turn and have no idea what their legal rights are or what can be proven using electronic evidence. With our cyber crime seminars, our goal is to educate the public with the do’s and don’ts of obtaining electronic evidence of cyber crimes that will stand up in a criminal or civil proceeding.”
The two seminars to be held in mid-to-late June at Sense’s Fairfax offices include “Online Cheating & Spyware: Their Impact in Today’s Divorce” and “Cyber Harassment, Cyber Bullying & Cyber Stalking: When Your Stalker Goes High Tech.”
Both seminars are aimed at informing divorce and family law attorneys, domestic violence and safety group officials, law enforcement and the general public. A $35 per person fee applies, with a $60 fee for couples. Complete event details and online registration information can be found at seminars.asp
