Fairfax Law Foundation
 Established by the Fairfax Bar Association in 1982, the Fairfax Bar's charitable Foundation supports local programs to improve the community's access to justice and promote education regarding the legal system. The Foundation offers programs that allows members of our profession to "give back" and make a difference in our community. As part of her contribution to causes that make an effort to provide equal access of the law to all socio-economic strata, Ms. Nelson is a member of the Foundation's Board. Moreover, Sensei is a major donor to the Foundation and will be recognized on a plaque to be hung in the new Fairfax Courthouse addition when it opens in 2008.

Volunteer Fairfax
 Sensei's contributions have assisted Volunteer Fairfax with its “A Celebration of Giving and Sharing,” an annual event that supports more than 2,200 students at four different elementary schools by giving them a backpack filled with books and toys while teaching them about volunteerism and generosity. Volunteer Fairfax is a regional leader in developing and delivering creative solutions to community needs.

Jazz 4 Justice
 Ms. Nelson and Mr. Simek have been generous sponsors of the annual Jazz 4 Justice concert since 2002. This wonderful jazz concert, held at George Mason University each fall, helps raise monies to deliver legal services to the working poor.

Virginia State Bar
 Each year, Ms. Nelson and
Mr. Simek donate their time to lecture for the “baby lawyers,” those who have just passed their bar exams. As Ms. Nelson notes ruefully, “they get younger every year.” Ms. Nelson also donates a lot of time to the Virginia State Bar (VSB) as professional “giveback.” She current serves on the VSB’s governing Council, and on its Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Board and its Technology Committee.

 Just the Beginning Foundation
 Ms. Nelson and Mr. Simek proudly assist the publicity outreach task for the September 2008 Conference of the
Just the Beginning Foundation (JTBF), an organization dedicated to achieving diversity in the legal profession.

Reston Interfaith
 Reston Interfaith is a nonprofit organization serving Northern Virginia that promotes self-sufficiency through support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other services. The organization has also become a leading social service provider in Northern Virginia, offering comprehensive programs for more than 13,000 individuals and families in Reston, Herndon, and the surrounding area last year. Sensei has donated more than 30 refurbished computers to Reston Interfaith. The Sensei-refurbished computers will aid families and clients pursuing educational or vocational training opportunities.

The Women's Center
  Sharon D. Nelson and John W. Simek, founders and principals of Sensei, presented a workshop at The Women's Center of Vienna, Virginia on September 20, 2007. The 2-hour workshop, entitled "Digital Abuse of Women: How to Combat Abuse of Women — How to Combat Spyware, Cyber Stalking, Spyware, Cyber Stalking, Cyber Bullying and Cyber Harassment," educated women — often the victims of cyber crime — on options and legal recourses where electronic evidence is crucial in order to collect proof of such activities.

Western Fairfax Christian Ministries
 Sensei has been a contributor to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) for over five years and also donates most of their refurbished computers to WFCM for distribution to children who have no computer at home.

The American Bar Association
 This is another great forum for professional giveback. Both Ms. Nelson, recently named Chair of the ABA Law Practice Management Publications Board, and Mr. Simek have been lecturing for the ABA TECHSHOW since 2000. Ms. Nelson is a past Chair of TECHSHOW and Mr. Simek currently serves on its planning Board. Ms. Nelson serves on the Council of the Law Practice Management Section and both Ms. Nelson and Mr. Simek are members of LPM’s Technology Core Group, where they have recently been joined by Sensei’s Director of Computer Forensics, Mike Maschke. Moreover, Mr. Simek and Ms. Nelson both write a monthly column for the ABA and produce podcasts for them as well.

Chipping In to End Domestic Violence Charity Golf Tournament
 Sensei has been a sponsor of this tournament for the last three years. Our support to this charity greatly benefits the women and children at Fairfax County Women's Shelter, a domestic violence shelter in our area.

 Sensei contributes to the annual Fairfax High School's “All Night Grad Celebration” event, a drug-free/alcohol-free all-night celebration that provides a safe haven for graduates to celebrate this spectacular milestone in their lives.

 Sensei began this program in 2000, taking in discarded computers from local law firms and rehabbing them for distribution to children in economically disadvantaged families. They recently had the enormous pleasure of seeing a recipient of one of their computers lauded in the New York Times for her acting success!

 Sensei supports The Theater of the First Amendment, the professional theater company of George Mason University’s Center for the Arts. The company celebrates free speech by giving playwrights the freedom to explore their ideas without imposing an agenda on the outcome, other than artistic excellence.
